The DynamoCity team from our school narrowly missed receiving first place -- and an all-expense paid trip to Wachington DC for the national competition of FutureCity. Both of the school's teams placed in the top five entries, but only one team per school could be in the final round. In two of the three years which our school has participated, our teams have placed in the top five of 20 or more competing schools in the region.

After their chemistry unit dealing with compounds and mixtures, the 7th and 8th grade class tried their hand at dissecting earthworms and frogs. At first there was some reluctance, but after seeing some streaming internet videos and document camera presentations, all the students were able to complete the project with flying colors, literally learning about worms and frogs "inside - out." |

The Midwest Google Education Summit |

The entire faculty traveled to Wisconsin for the Midwest Google Apps for Education Summit. This was an opporutnity for the teachers to learn and apply the free technological resources available which help enhance education at our school. Since students have access to 1:1 computer-to-student ratio with our laptop carts, they are able to work seemlessly between home and school on various projects. |

Teams of students participating in the regional FutureCity competition met with Brookfield's Assistant Village Manager, Mr. Keith Sbiral, to learn about city infrastructure. The Dynamocity and Electrodelphia teams asked questions about what keeps the village going in terms of water, power, streets and sanitation. |

Zach Paisker graduated from 8th grade last spring - and it didn't take him long to be recognized at his new high school as a noteworthy student. Early in the fall quarter at Riverside-Brookfield High School he was awarded with the Student of the Month Award. Congratulations, Zach! |
